Filmo porque las circunstancias políticas que se fueron dando en el país a partir de 1975, cuando tenía 16, 17 años me fueron convenciendo que nuestra vida (la de los argentinos) sería muy distinta en los siguientes años y que a la inquietud política que tenía debía incorporar el cine a mi formación, como herramienta de trabajo para un largo e incierto plazo.
Cuando filmo lo hago con la intención que el trabajo fílmico contribuya al debate de ideas, a la reflexión; y si es posible, que tenga también la misma u otra utilidad en el futuro.
Filmar es para mí un desafío permanente en muchos sentidos, sobre todo el que me planteo a mí mismo cada vez que inicio un trabajo, y al mismo tiempo el desafío de reunir y combinar artes diferentes, muy cercanas, queridas y respetadas, en una película.
Filmo porque aprendo. Cada película implica un enorme aprendizaje.

I make films because the political circumstances of my country since 1975 (when i was 16 or 17) convinced me that our lives (I mean, Argentines lives) would be very different in the following years, and that –besides my interest in politics- I had to include cinema in my knowledge, as a work tool for the future.
When I make a film, I have the double intention of contributing to the debate of ideas, not only for the present, but also for the future.
Making films is a permanent challenge in many senses for me, especially when I challenge myself at the beginning of a project, and at the same there’s another challenge that consists in fulfilling and combining different, beloved and respected arts in the same film.
I make films because I learn while doing it. Every film is a huge learning.
