Es para mí una fabulosa excusa para aprehender otros mundos, también para intentar entender un poco el propio. O, mejor dicho, para vivir todas las porciones de tiempo y espacio que caben en nuestras vidas. Observarlas, embellecerlas, denunciarlas, compartirlas, desarmarlas, rearmarlas y reconstruirlas.
Ya sabemos que hay algo que se revela sólo a través de la cámara. Como el cazador, esperamos urgente ese momento con paciencia. Urgencia y paciencia, dos fuerzas tirando hacia lados opuestos en una tensión que divide cielo de la tierra. Y todos nosotros, como en un punto intermedio de esos polos.
Me gusta que el azar trabaje a la par nuestra. Es un integrante más del equipo, una parca que con su daga desmonta esas planificaciones sin sentido, desmaleza lo que sobra, que siembra nuevas posibilidades y hace crecer lo que en secreto esperamos que prontamente se revele… Y nos enseñe así algo más sobre la vida.
Así el tiempo nos esculpe. Y nuestras películas terminan siendo aquello que mejor puede hablar de “nosotros” en ese “aquí y ahora” de la creación.
(March 28th 2011 10:47am) Why do I make film?
Making films for me is a wonderful excuse to seize other worlds, also to try to understand a little this one, or –in other words– to live every piece of time and space of our lives; to watch them, make them beautiful, denounce them, share them, disarm them and rebuilt them.
We already know that there is something that is only revealed through the camera. Like a hunter, we wait patiently for that moment. Urgency and patience are two forces pulling to opposite places with a tension that divides heaven from earth, and we are all between them.
I like when chance works by our side. It is a member of our crew; it’s like a Grim Reaper that cuts down with its dagger all those nonsense planning, and plants new possibilities and makes grow all those things that we secretly expect to be revealed soon… and we hope that it will teach us something more about life.
In that way, time carves us. And finally our films turn out to be our best representation, at the time and the place of the creation.
