Filmo como una extensión de otros impulsos necesarios para vivir e inventarme una vida, una actividad que ocupe todo mi tiempo, porque entendí que, salvo los vagabundos, a todos los desocupados los encarna una sensación triste de insignificancia. Si no tuviera esta manera de encausar el tiempo seguramente sería un alienado mental y quizá aun así lo soy, de una manera sana.
Por más frustrantes que hayan sido para mí algunas experiencias, no hay nada que se compare con inventar algo y estar ahí realizándolo, solo o en equipo. Es el momento en que nada importa, ni siquiera morir. No querés que nadie interrumpa eso y sin embargo tenés a una gorda atrás gritando “¡Horas extras! ¡Horas Extras!” y vos tenés que terminar aunque sientas que la escena todavía no está. Si no fuera por estas cosas nunca me hubiese preguntado por qué filmo.

I make films as an extension of other necessary impulses to live and to invent a life for myself, an activity that occupies all my time, because I understood that –except for the homeless- everyone that doesn’t have a job feels a sensation of insignificant sadness. If I wouldn’t have this way of occupying my time, I’d probably be a mental alienated, and maybe I am, but in a healthy way.
Despite some frustrating experiences, there is nothing I can compare with inventing something and doing it, alone or with a team. It is the moment when nothing matters, not even dying. You don’t want to be interrupted, although you have a fat woman shouting behind you “Extra hours! Extra hours!” and you have to finish, even if you feel that the scene is not yet done. If there weren’t those things, I wouldn’t have ever asked myself why I make films.
