Si me lo hubieran preguntado hace diez años hubiera respondido: “Hago películas para cambiar el mundo”. Cuando era joven me había convencido de que mis películas harían una diferencia. Aquel racismo y sexismo y guerra, de algún modo terminarían si hubiera suficiente buen cine alrededor. Es por eso que comencé a estudiar en la escuela de cine. Es por eso que hice porno feminista y documentales desgarradores.
Ahora, después de quince años de rodaje, puedo ver que todas las clases de mal todavía continúan, a pesar de mis películas… Entonces tengo que pensar en otra respuesta. Si la hay.
Supongo que sería: “Hago películas porque es divertido. Porque no sé manejar un verdadero trabajo. Porque las historias en mi cabeza tienen que salir por algún sitio o me volvería loca”.

If you would have asked me ten years ago I would give you the answer: “I make films to change the world”. When I was young I was convinced that my films would make a difference. That racism and sexism and war would somehow come to and end if there was enough good cinema around. That’s why I started filmschool. That’s why I made feminist porn and heartbreaking documentaries.
Now, after fifteen years of filmmaking. I can see that all kinds of evil is still going on, despite my films… So I have to think of another answer. If there is one.
I guess it would be: “I make films because it is fun. Because I don’t know how to handle a real job. Because the stories in my head have to come out somewhere or I would go crazy”.
