Por estos días, cuanto más pienso “¿por qué filmo?” me resuena el siguiente postulado de Zarathustra, el profeta iraní: “Para pelear contra las tinieblas, no empuñaré una espada; encenderé una luz”.
Un deber para ser cineasta y vivir en Irán es entender el significado de “tinieblas” y “luz”.

These days, the more I think about “Why I make films?” I keep recalling the following statement from Zarathustra, the Iranian prophet: “To fight darkness, I won’t draw out sword; I shall fire light.”
One ought to be a filmmaker and live in Iran to understand the meaning of “darkness” and of “light”.
