Es difícil para mí comprender las reglas del juego que hacen funcionar al mundo, pero cada nueva película lleva su propio libro de reglas que voy investigando mientras trabajo en ella. Y mientras las investigo parece que existe un orden posible entre las cosas y el caos que es mi relación con el mundo.
Creo que esas reglas del juego son políticas. Las formas en las que contamos, en las que producimos y la manera en que las personas en una película hablan y encuentran su lenguaje son cuestiones políticas. Entiendo el hacer cine como un proceso en el que un grupo de personas explora y persigue una postura política, la pone a prueba, la realiza, rechaza, piensa.
Filmar es también una posibilidad de dialogar con otras películas, y de armar nuevas hipótesis. Me da alegría cuando se muestra mi película en un lugar, una sala, un festival donde antes vi películas que me conmovieron.

For me, it’s hard to comprehend the rules that make the world go round. But every movie has its own book of rules, which I investigate as I am working on it. And as I investigate there seems to be a possible order between things and the chaos of my reaction to the world.
I think that these rules are political. The ways we tell the story, and how we produce it, and the way the people talk and find their language in the movie are political matters. I understand the “making of cinema” like a process in which a group of people explore and pursue a political position, they test it, they perform it, reject it, and think.
Filming is also the possibility of talking to other movies, and thinking in new hypothesizes. It pleases me to see a film of mine shown in some place, a cinema, a festival, where I had seen a film that really moved me.
