No lo tengo demasiado claro, pero creo que no siempre pensé lo mismo respecto a por qué hacer cine. En un principio estuvo más relacionado con un acto de catarsis, con una voluntad de comunicar, de contar cosas que sentía, que veía y que creía que debían ser conocidas. Esa voluntad fue la que me impulsó a estudiar cine.
Luego esa idea fue mutando durante mis estudios, hasta transformarse totalmente cuando tuve la posibilidad de hacer cine.
Hoy siento que filmo más que nada por placer, por el placer que me da estar en el set, ya sea en un documental o una ficción, y decidir el punto de vista, dónde poner la cámara, qué distancia focal elegir, cómo recortar el espacio. Encuadrar se ha transformado para mí en un momento de verdad, de reflexión y de vértigo. En ese momento siento que estoy descubriendo algo sobre el mundo, y sobre mí mismo.
Encuentro en el cine tantas aristas que integran la obra, tantos desafíos, tantas posibilidades, tanto territorio por recorrer que creo que no hay otra actividad tan fascinante, difícil y gratificante como esta.

I’m not sure about it, but I haven’t always thought the same about why I make films. At the beginning, it was more related to a process of catharsis, with a will of communicating, of telling stories that I feel, that I saw and I thought that should be known. That will moved me to study Cinema.
Then that idea was mutating while I was studying, up to the point when I had the possibility of making a film and it totally transformed.
Today I think that I make films to feel pleasure, above all things, the pleasure of being on the film stage, by making a documentary or a fictional film, and deciding the point of view, where to put the camera, which focal distance to choose, how to frame the space. At that moment, I feel that I’m discovering something about the world and about me.
In cinema I find many edges that are part of the film, challenges, possibilities, and a huge space to explore, so I think there is no other fascinating, hard and gratifying activity than this.
